Option 1 - Using Homebrew This is the easiest way and will provide automatic updates. Install ruby -e '$(curl -fsSL. Install adb brew cask install android-platform-tools. Start using adb adb devices Option 2 - Manually (just the platform tools) This is the easiest way to get a manual installation of ADB and Fastboot. Delete your old installation (optional) rm -rf /.android-sdk-macosx/. Navigate to and click on the SDK Platform-Tools for Mac link.

Option 3 - Using MacPorts Analoguously to the two options (homebrew / manual) posted by @brismuth, here's the MacPorts way:. Install the Android SDK: sudo port install android. Run the SDK manager: sh /opt/local/share/java/android-sdk-macosx/tools/android. As @brismuth suggested, uncheck everything but Android SDK Platform-tools (optional).

Free

Install the packages, accepting licenses. Close the SDK Manager. Add platform-tools to your path; in MacPorts, they're in /opt/local/share/java/android-sdk-macosx/platform-tools.

E.g., for bash: echo 'export PATH=$PATH:/opt/local/share/java/android-sdk-macosx/platform-tools' /.bashprofile. Refresh your bash profile (or restart your terminal/shell): source /.bashprofile. Start using adb: adb devices.

Hi, it's a matter of style. Your formatting is hard to read.

Generally writing in caps is equivalent of SCREAMING at people on the net. Bolding it and bolding too much make things worse 3. This 'username' thing is not needed here, see the accepted answer to see better solution - your answer would be shorter and simpler. You can see the accepted answer and learn from the style - how to present things, and highlight them and make it clear.

I followed that and it's just simple copy/paste a few times. Currently the accepted answer is also more complete.

I've gone through so many different possibilities and methods and cannot get adb to find my nexus 6 in list of devices.

I'm attempting to unlock the bootload and sideload marshmallow since I am stuck on the AT&T build LMY48W and am more than tired of waiting for this OTA. (I WAS DOZE DAMNIT!) And Ideas would be great, my macbook is currently running el capitan and my adb is responding perfectly. (I can kill the server and launch daemon and it runs like it should.) I've rooted before on this mac with a M8 I owned previously so I'm not too new (or mega savvy). But when I go into my utilities and look under USB, my Mac recognizes and lists the Nexus 6 but adb has is having none of it.

Any help is great, I've already downloaded Shamu to retroactively return to 5.0 and update without the AT&T sim inside the phone so I can get the 6.0 OTA. I just need to unlock this damn bootloader and sideload. I had this problem on El Capitan as well - the version of adb and fastboot I already had both showed my Nexus 6 as 'offline' when running the adb devices command. What I ended up doing was using this installer here: Quick installer command: bash.
